Well I failed as a father, no just as a photographer, well really … I failed as an instruction giver. Like many times before, Heather saw something she liked on Pinterest. It was a gender reveal by way of confetti balloon pop. Seamed simple enough I thought. Boy was I ever wrong.
As promised here is a behind the scenes look at how we created the above sweet “froggy” pose with baby Kennidee.
During a break from her sister’s newborn photography session, Makayla enjoyed some play time in front of the camera. We were snapping some simple portraits and she broke out into a cute game of peekaboo. What a doll.
After waiting for what always seams like a lifetime, our beautiful niece Kennidee, made the trip to our home over the holidays to have her newborn pictures taken. What a fantastic Christmas gift. I had a bit of a cold before they came so I had to keep my distance during the session. It was lots of “han-atizer” -as my kids call it- and hands off, which of course killed me not to getting to hold the baby. As luck would have it my amazing wife Heather stepped in as baby wrangler extraordinaire.
The kids had a blast for Halloween this year. We got dressed up and had some friends come over and do a quick photo shoot on the white sweep. Then we all hit Dairy Queen for free hotdog kids meals. Thanks Dairy Queen. Then we ran around on Clark Street in Billings. It is the official haunted street in town. We went a bit before dark so not all the scary stuff was out yet. Then made our way to quieter streets and eventually home.
Recently Heather and I had the distinct pleasure of photographing some of our dear friends, the Rykowski family. Never was there a family before them with such amazing children that are so full of personality. Each of their 3 girls are so vary different from each other and yet completely belong to one another. And there baby boy, what a treat, he is going to have his work cut out for him with three older sisters for sure.
My Brother in Law Tim married the love of his life, Terah at the end of May this summer. They exchanged their vows in the Glendive Montana stock yard sale barn. It would be an odd location for a wedding for sure, but not for these two, that is were they met. They are both country folk to the core. I didn’t know a sale barn could even clean up that nice, their wedding was beautiful.
For the past two years I have had the pleasure of photographing some of the Big Sky Little League All Star teams. These Players both young and old are an amazing group of kids. In order are the 2013 9-10 year old All Stars, 10-11, 11-12 and Seniors. The 11-12 year ol’ds went all the way to the national championship this year.
Meet Nick, what a fantastic guy. He will graduate this coming 2014 from Laurel High School. He has always been a serious baseball player, but when an injury plagued his chances of making the team he decided to take up golf. Although golf is far from an easy game he made the team his first try, this kid has some serious athletic ability and mental focus.
Say hello to two of the funniest people in Billings. There is a lot of funny people obviously but these two are hilarious, we haven’t laughed that much in awhile. We met Courtney and Brandon last year while photographing the wedding of their dear friends Travis and Alix. Since then the few times we have gotten together have been so fun. I love outtake images from photo shoots, not the blinkers but the ones with all the shenanigans. Let’s just say these two provided plenty.
